On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Senate Speaker, the Right Honourable Gervais Ndirakobuca, joined the people of Masango, in Bukinanyana Commune, Bujumbura Province, during the ceremonies to welcome the torch of peace. He also joined the residents of this locality and the bearers of the torch of peace during the paving of four classrooms at Nyaruhishi Primary School.
In his message, the Right Honourable Ndirakobuca called on the people of Bujumbura Province to continue to preserve peace and security and to undertake various projects aimed at achieving the country’s development goals. He also urged them to ensure that their representatives properly fulfill their duties.
The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament asked the leaders to serve as good role models for others, serving those who mandated them without any demands in return. He expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, for his contribution to the achievement of the work illuminated by the torch of peace.
