Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, H.E Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by his two Deputy Speakers, Honourable Denise Ndadaye and Honourable Fabrice Nkurunziza and a senator elected in the constituency of Cibitoke, took part in the ceremonies marking the launch of the Caravan of the Torch of Peace, 18th edition 2024, under the theme “Burundians, let us elect the leaders who will lead us to the Vision of Burundi, an emerging country by 2040 and developed by 2060″, which took place at the Buganda stadium in the province of Cibitoke, this Saturday, November 9, 2024.
In his speech, the President of the Republic of Burundi said that this torch of peace offers Burundians an opportunity to remember past and to look to the future; to keep in mind that peace was dearly acquired and that, as a result, there should be no negligence. Consequently, he asked them to work diligently to increase production, promote peace and security, and to love one another within the new provincial entity, to implement the projects that the communes had set for themselves, since this torch of peace carries a message of social cohesion and to hope for a bright future.
His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE also called on Burundians to elect leaders who know to develop projects properly; to respond massively to community development activities and to clean up.
Also taking part in these ceremonies were the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, the Ombudsman, members of the government and many other distinguished personalities.
