He also urged the Burundian population, and more particularly civil servants, to engage in agriculture in order to increase production to feed them and export the surplus.
The Senate Speaker also asked the Government of Burundi to help farmers by creating a bank which would work closely with all those who engage in the agro-pastoral domain. He reported that his field covers an area of 4 hectares, adding that he used 6 tons of seeds and hopes to harvest between 50 to 60 tons at a rate of 10-15 tons per hectare.
At the end, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, asked the ministries responsible for agriculture and industry to significantly help farmers in the conservation and processing of their harvest. As we are in an election period, he asked the population not to be distracted by elections and continue working to eradicate hunger.
