
On the occasion of the commemoration of Labor and Workers’ Day, Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Second Deputy-Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Fabrice Nkurunziza, accompanied by senators and staff of this institution, enhanced with his presence the ceremonies in Kayanza province.
The festivities took place at Gatwaro international stadium and were organized under the theme of encouraging Burundian people to increase production by referring to the national vision: Emerging Country in 2040, Developed one in 2060.
These ceremonies were primarily marked by a long parade of workers from both the public and private sectors. Various traditional dances, including those of the drummers and many others, also enhanced these ceremonies.
The Second Deputy-Speaker of the Senate then presented to the participants the special address that the Head of State, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, had delivered to the Burundian people.
In this address, the President of the Republic called on Burundians to increase production in all sectors of the country, to achieve the country’s development goals: Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060.
These ceremonies were attended by various high-ranking figures from the country, including several members of parliament and many others.
