Return of the First Deputy-speaker of the Senate from a working mission to Rabat

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the First Deputy-speaker of the Senate, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye, returned from a working mission to Rabat, Morocco, from April 28 to 29, 2025, at the invitation of the President of the House of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Association of Senates, Shouras and Equivalent Councils of Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA).

Upon her arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, she indicated that she had participated in the 3^rd South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum as part of an exchange on interregional and continental dialogues in the Global South as a fundamental lever for addressing the new challenges of international cooperation and achieving peace, security, stability, and sustainable development.

Moreover, Honorable Ndadaye noted that she participated in the ASSECAA Conference of Women Parliamentarians, whose objective was to discuss the launch of an annual Forum of Women Parliamentarians from Africa and the Arab World. She indicated that the conference participants emphasized that peace-building is achieved through dialogue, and that the Honorable Senators play a leading role in strengthening dialogue both at the national and international levels, as evidenced by the Burundian dialogue in resolving conflicts that have opposed them for decades. “At the end of this conference, we committed to consolidating the work of regional and continental parliamentary unions to strengthen cooperation, mutual assistance, and exchange views on the various challenges that haunt our countries,” she said.

Furthermore, she indicated that the conference participants committed to supporting scientific research to develop technology and artificial intelligence and to using it effectively. The First Deputy-speaker of the Senate also indicated that the women parliamentarians agreed that countries in conflict, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Palestine, and South Sudan, could be supported so that dialogue could be used to end the wars that destabilize and cause grief to innocent people.

On the sidelines of this conference, Honorable Ndadaye indicated that she was received by the President of the House of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco and current President of ASSECAA, and they discussed bilateral cooperation between Burundi and the Kingdom of Morocco, on the one hand, and between the two senatorial institutions, on the other hand.
