SUMMARY REPORT OF THE PLENARY SESSION OF JANUARY 11, 2023

The year two thousand and twenty-three, on the eleventh day of January, the senators met in the hemicycle of the Senate in Gitega for the 118^th plenary session of the sixth legislature for the presentation of the reports of missions carried out at the foreigners and the descent carried out by the standing committee in charge of administrative, decentralization and representativeness issues within the institutions in different institutions during the parliamentary recess of November 2022.

This session, which was chaired by the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, was attended by 32 senators. It  began as usual, with a prayer at 9:26 a.m.

Proceeding to the opening of the session, the Speaker of the Senate first welcomed all the senators present and gave the floor directly to the Honourable senators so that they could present the reports of the missions carried out.

Two reports which were presented are:

• the report of the working mission carried out in the Kingdom of Morocco on November 13 to 21, 2022 by a delegation led by the Speaker of the Senate, in the framework of exchanges of experience;

• the report of the field visits carried out by the Standing Committee in charge of administrative, decentralization and control of representativeness issues  in the institutions carried out from 07 to 11 November 2022.

The field visits by the above-mentioned commission were carried out within the following institutions: the General Commissioner for Migration, the Traffic Police and Road Safety Unit (UPR-SR), OTRACO, REGIDESO, the Ministry of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, FOMI and the Ministry of home Affairsr, Community Development and Public Security.

After the presentation of these reports, the floor was given to the Honourable senators to speak at the end of the general debate.

As for the various questions raised by the senators, they opted to prepare oral questions with debate which will be addressed to the representatives of the Government concerned so that the latter can give more clarifications.
