On Sunday, July 10, 2022, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, at the same time Legal Representative of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, accompanied by his spouse, parliamentarians elected in Gitega constituency , as well as some administrative officials of this same province, joined the Head of State, His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE, who had enhanced with his presence the closing celebration of the crusade organized by the national men’s organization of this same Church, from July 8 to 10, 2022.
The crusade took place at Nyabugogo Parish, in the commune and province of Gitega, under the theme “What does the Lord your God expect of you?” (Deuteronomy 10: 12-13).
Speaking to the Christians and the Burundian people, the Head of State called on them to buckle down to work for development. He urged them to believe in the Almighty God, praise for the restoration of peace and security in Burundi, and avoid despair and hypocrisy.
His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE also called on administrative leaders to avoid corruption and embezzlement of public funds.
As for the Senate Speaker, during his sermon, he advised the Christians of this Church to conform to the theme of the crusade by fearing God, loving him and serving him with all their heart.
The Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA asked them to be characterized by the love for one another, mercy, and humility.
