On Sunday, January 23, 2022, the Senate Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by his wife and some senators, joined the faithful of the Free Methodist Church of Sagasozo parish, in Itaba commune of Gitega province, in a Sunday prayer.
In his speech, the Rt. Honourable Sinzohagera invited the faithful of this church to work with zeal to increase production in order to support the Government of Burundi as it has dedicated the year 2022 as a year for agriculture.
In view of the Covid-19 that threatens the whole world, the Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament urged them to keep on protecting themselves by respecting the barrier measures settled by the Ministry of Public Health. In addition, he reminded them that they cannot develop unless they are healthy. “Without good health, you cannot work and increase production,” he said.
He recalled that in order to increase agricultural production, the Government has planned the distribution of agricultural inputs and selected seeds on credit to those who accept to put together their arable lands which totalize at least 2 hectares.
In his preaching, the Rt. Hon. Sinzohagera focused his teachings on the scriptures from the book of Numbers 21:4-9; Acts of the Apostles 7:54-60,… where he asked the faithful of this Church not to turn their eyes to the problems but rather to God.
In recognition, the congregation of the Free Methodist Church of the parish mentioned above offered two sheep to the Senate Speaker.
