On March 9, 2023, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate, returned from a work mission which he had carried out in Cairo, Egypt, where he had responded to the invitation of his counterpart, Right Honourable Abdel WAHAB Abdel Razek, Speaker of the Egyptian Senate.
Speaking to the press, Right Honourable Sinzohagera said that during his stay in Egypt, he had discussions with Right Honourable Abdel WARAH on ways and means to consolidate relations of friendship and cooperation, which led to the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parliamentary chambers.
On this occasion, the Senate of Egypt granted a donation of 30 laptops to the Burundian Senate. “The Egyptian Senate promised to train the senators and executives of Burundian senatorial institution”, he added.
On the sidelines of this mission, the two personalities discussed business opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, trade and industry. “A team of investors will explore Burundi to see in which sector they can invest,” he said.
In addition, he pointed out that Egypt promised to support Burundi in the field of agricultural research since this country is very advanced in this area.
