On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the Senate Speaker, the Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by his wife, participated in Sunday worship at Buhonga Parish, in Kinyinya Commune, Ruyigi Province. This celebration brought together the faithful of the Kinyinya District of the United Methodist Church, some of the Kinyinya Commune’s administrative staff, as well as former and newly elected members of parliament.
In his message, based on the biblical passages of Psalm 37:5 and Mark 4:35-41 (recounting the episode of the calmed storm), the Right Honorable Senate Speaker and Bishop of the United Methodist Church in Burundi and Rwanda urged the faithful to rely entirely on Jesus Christ in all aspects of their lives. He encouraged them to imitate the disciples who, faced with the storm, woke Jesus, showing their trust in Him.
Taking this opportunity, he congratulated the recently elected members of parliament and strongly urged them to truly represent the people who elected them. He urged them to never forget the concerns and daily realities of their constituents once in office.
Addressing to all the Christians present, he called for repentance, recalling that the Kingdom of Heaven is reserved for the saints, for God is holy. He emphasized that community development projects are important, but that one must not lose sight of the ultimate goal of every Christian: to inherit eternal life. He emphasized that earth is only a place of passage and that the final destination is heaven.
The Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera further encouraged the leaders of the Kinyinya District to teach the Word of God to the faithful with zeal, recalling that two things make the devil tremble: prayer and the Word of God.
The Senate Speaker advised the faithful not to fear life’s trials, assuring them that nothing can prevent the fulfillment of God’s promises for those who trust in Him.
