The Senate Speaker invites Russian investors to invest in Burundi.

On the sidelines of the Ecology Congress, on the afternoon of May 22, 2025, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, met with his counterpart, the President of the Federation Council of the Russia Federal Assembly, Her Excellency Valentina Matvienko.

During their meeting, the two high-ranking officials expressed their mutual satisfaction with the bilateral relations their countries maintain.

The Burundi Senate Speaker expressed the hope that these relations would be strengthened through economic cooperation, stating that Burundi has many opportunities, particularly in the mining, agricultural, and other sectors. Consequently, he invited Russian investors to bring their capital to Burundi for investment.

The Speaker of the Upper House of the Burundian Parliament indicated that they have initiated the process of signing a cooperation partnership between the Senate of Burundi and the Federation Council of the Russia Federal Assembly.

In turn, Her Excellency Valentina Matvienko made various commitments, including sending experts during this elections period and continuing to support Burundi whenever needed.
