The Senate Speaker meets with the Chairperson of Chinese People’s political consultative conference via video conference

On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, met, through video-conference, with the Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Right Honourable Wang Yang.

At the end of this session, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera said that their exchanges had focused on strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between Burundi and China on the one hand, and between the Senates of the two countries on the other.

He recalled that these relations have existed for a long time and he specified that China supports Burundi, particularly in the fields of health, infrastructure and agriculture.

The Speaker of the Upper House of the Burundian Parliament also indicated that there are projects in progress, supported by the People’s Republic of China, in this case the renovation of Melchior Ndadaye International Airport and the deviation of the RN1 .

In the field of agriculture, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera indicated that China has promised to send experts to Burundi, in order to increase the production of rice cultivation.
