The Senate Speaker receives in audience the German Ambassador to Burundi

On Wednesday August 14, 2024, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, received in audience the German Ambassador to Burundi, Carsten Hölscher. This courtesy visit comes after a year of stay of the ambassador in Burundi.

During this audience, discussions focused on the political situation in Burundi as well as the strengthening of bilateral relations between Burundi and Germany.

The Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera took this opportunity to explain to his host the content of the investigation carried out by the Senate concerning article 289 of the Constitution on the abolition or maintenance of ethnic quotas.

For his part, the German Ambassador to Burundi, Carsten Hölscher, said that he was confident that the next elections will take place in a serene and peaceful climate.

This meeting made it possible to further consolidate the ties of cooperation between Burundi and Germany, in the mutual interest of both countries.
