February 25, 2023The Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, received in audience the Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Right Honourable Joseph NTAKARUTIMANA, on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Bujumbura, the economic capital of Burundi.
At the end of the hearing, Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA indicated that he first congratulated him on having been elected to this position and wished him every success. He said that their talk focused on the activities of this Parliamentary Institution and the need to inform the population of the East African Community on the organization of this Legislative Assembly.
The Senate Speaker said that he asked him to increase visits to Burundi, so that Burundians should be informed about the Community, the laws that govern it as well as possible opportunities.
He indicated that Right Honourable NTAKARUTIMANA expressed a wish to meet the Speakers of the Chambers of Parliaments of this Community, to discuss other challenges that would be linked to the representation of the people.
