Wishes of 2021 New Year between Senators and Senate Staff

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 20, 2021, the Senate of Burundi organized the 2021 New Year Wishes ceremonies, over a glass of beer, at the Magnificat Center of Mushasha in Gitega commune and province.

Those festivities were enhanced by the presence of the Speaker of that Institution, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera in company of his wife; his two Deputies-Speakers, Honorable Spès-Caritas Njebarikanuye and Honorable Cyriaque Nshimirimana.

The senators, the Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Dr Déo Guide Rurema; the governor of Gitega province, Mr. Venant Manirambona; the administrator of Gitega commune; the Senate staff and other guests also took part in those ceremonies.

In his message, Right Honorable Sinzohagera said that in 2021, the Senate will continue to sensitize the population to strengthen security, work diligently, join development cooperatives, fight against corruption, safeguard good morals, etc.

In addition, the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament promised to be close to the population, so that they could buckle down to the protection of the environment, the fight against polygamy, the construction of the offices of chiefs of villages. “That Institution will also deal with the Statute for officials of the Parliament”, he added.
