Commemoration of the 64th Anniversary of the Assassination of Prince Louis Rwagasore

On the occasion of the commemoration ceremonies marking the 64^th anniversary of the assassination of Prince Louis Rwagasore, held on Monday, October 13, 2025, the members of the Senate Bureau joined the Head of State, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, other high-ranking officials, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Vice President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Ombudsman, former Heads of State, members of the Government, various distinguished guests, representatives of Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited to Burundi, as well as a large crowd of Burundian citizens, during these ceremonies, which took place in Bujumbura, the economic capital of Burundi. These ceremonies were marked primarily by the laying of a wreath at the mausoleum of this National Hero by His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, the President of the Republic.

This event concluded with a mass, celebrated in Regina Mundi Cathedral, in memory of the late illustrious figure.

During the mass, Monsignor Anatole Rugerinyange, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bujumbura, who led the service, invited Christians to grow in faith and to be artisans of peace and human dignity, following the example of Prince Louis Rwagasore.
