During the Sunday mass of December 15, 2024, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Senate Speaker and Legal Representative of the United Methodist Church of Burundi, joined the Christians of the Nyamiko Parish, located in the District of Kinyinya, province of Ruyigi. He was accompanied by an elected senator from the Ruyigi constituency as well as various administrative officials.
In his preaching, Right Honourable Sinzohagera relied on the Holy Scriptures, particularly the Gospel passages according to Mark 1:2-4 and Matthew 24:44. Referring to these texts, he urged the faithful to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ, to become true messengers of God and to work in accordance with the vision of a Burundi emerging in 2040 and developed in 2060.
The Senate Speaker stressed that the development of the Church is intrinsically linked to that of the parishes. He therefore called on all parishes to develop all land areas at their disposal in order to initiate sustainable development projects.
Concerning the debt of 31 iron sheets contracted by the Parish of Nyamiko, Right Honourable Sinzohagera made a commitment to settle this debt, thus demonstrating his support for local initiatives.
To conclude, he encouraged all those who were present to practice good behaviour, especially within their homes. He also recalled the importance of not distracted by material goods.
