This Monday, August 25, 2025, as voters are called to participate in the election of village councilors and district chiefs throughout the country, the Right Honourable Gervais NDIRAKOBUCA, Senate Speaker, joined all Burundians in this event.
He performed this civic service at the Gihango Primary School polling station located in Kabondo Village, Bukinanyana Commune in Bujumbura Province.
In his address to the media, the Right Honourable Gervais NDIRAKOBUCA thanked the CENI for organizing the free, peaceful, and transparent elections, in accordance with Article 272 of the Constitution.
He then recalled that village councilors represent the interests of their communities and make decisions which reflect local needs and priorities. To achieve this, local elected officials must work closely with the local population. Indeed, village councilors play an important role in local development, identifying the needs and priorities of their communities and working to satisfy the people.
Concluding his remarks, the Right Honourable Senate Speaker warned future elected officials. He indicated that those who abuse their power will be dismissed. They must be good servants of the people to serve as role models, he emphasized.
