December 11, 2020Monday, December 07, 2020, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, together with his two Deputy-Speakers, Honorable Spès-Caritas NJEBARIKANUYE and Cyriaque NSHIMIRIMANA, as well as other senior executives of that Institution, received in audience the delegation of the INCHR led by the President of that Commission, Dr. Sixte Vigny NIMURABA.
During their meeting, the exchanges focused on the presentation of the INCHR operation especially since it was the first time that the Commission met Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA as the Speaker of the Upper House of Burundi Parliament.
That visit was also an opportunity to discuss how the INCHR and the Senate have already worked together, and plan to continue along that same sense.
The INCHR delegation also expressed its wish to work together with the Senate to promote human rights among the population.
Other subjects dealt with during that audience were the respect of children’s rights and the strengthening of the council of village notables.
