Approval of Candidates for Provincial Governors

In its extraordinary session convened by His Excellency the President of the Burundi Republic, Major General Evariste Ndayishimiye, this Thursday, July 3, 2025, in accordance with Article 192, point 9 of the Constitution, the Senate of Burundi unanimously approved five names of candidates for the positions of Provincial Governor, proposed by the President of the Republic of Burundi .

This session was chaired by the Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Senate Speaker

The name approved for Buhumuza Province is Ms. Denise Ndaruhekeye; for Bujumbura province, it is Major General Aloys Ndayikengurukiye, for Burunga province, it is the Honourable Parfait Mboninyibuka, for Butanyerera province, it is Police Brigadier General Victor Segasago, and for Gitega province, it is Mr. Liboire Bigirimana.

The Minister of the Home Affairs, Community Development, and Public Security, Honourable Martin Niteretse, represented the Government to provide clarification on these candidates.
