Audience granted to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi

This Friday, August 29, 2025, the Right Honourable Senate Speaker, Gervais NDIRAKOBUCA, received in audience, in Gitega, Ms. Zhao Jiangping, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi, who came for a courtesy visit and to convey a message of congratulations from the Standing Committee of the National People’s Assembly (CPANP).

The spokesperson for the Speaker of the Senate, Ladislas Niyiragira, indicated that this was the first meeting between the two high-ranking officials since the Right Honourable Speaker of the Senate took office.

The two officials also discussed strengthening cooperation between Burundi and China, as well as between the two parliaments.

According to the Chinese Ambassador, the two parliaments will exchange experiences and best practices on issues such as legislation, parliamentary procedure, and citizen representation. The Chinese parliament will provide training and capacity building programmes for Burundian parliamentarians and officials.
