From June 11 to 12, 2022, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate at the same time Legal Representative of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, accompanied by his wife, joined the members of the Women’s Movement of this Church, during a crusade which took place in the parish of Cankuzo, in this same province, for the period from June 10 to 12, 2022, under the theme: “Let us rise up and build!” (Nehemiah 2: 18).
In his speech, Right Honorable Sinzohagera called on Burundians, and more specifically members of the Women's Movement of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, to fight poverty in their homes, and throughout the country. He invited these women to contract loans from the Women’s Investment and Development Bank (BIDF), in order to carry out self-development projects, particularly in agriculture field. “We wish you wouldn't be left behind in development,” he said.
He congratulated the President of the Republic of Burundi, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, who will celebrate the second anniversary of his accession to power in June.
He also invited Burundians to congratulate him, and pray for him, so that he continues to be characterized by wisdom and achieve significant exploits.
In his preaching, he asked the faithful of this Church to comply with the theme of the crusade, and always arm themselves with three weapons: prayer, Word of God and faith.
The President of the Upper House of the Parliament took advantage of this opportunity to inaugurate a for-profit house built near the parish with the help of the means specific to this Women's Movement of this Church.
In the joy that characterized these celebrations, the Women’s Movement of this Church offered gifts consisting of food to the Senate Speaker.
