In the afternoon of Tuesday, October 04, 2022, the Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Senate Speaker, visited the districts of Nyabugogo and Nyamugari in the zone, commune and province of Gitega, to see the damage caused by storm on Sunday October 02 of this year.
The Right Honourable Sinzohagera visited a poultry centre belonging to a national organization of men of the United Methodist Church in Burundi, located in the enclosures of the parish of Nyabugogo of the same Church, where the roof of two henhouses was destroyed. He also visited the COMIBU high school, where three classrooms and an office of the school headmaster whose roof had been blown away by the wind have already been rehabilitated.
In view of this damage, he promised that the Senate will support this school at the level of expenditure corresponding to this rehabilitation.
During this visit, the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament thanked the Burundian Government for its national reforestation project ”Ewe Burundi Urambaye”, and called on Burundians to plant trees to overcome the challenges related to climate change.
