In the afternoon of Thursday, November 12, 2020, Honorable Spès-Caritas NJEBARIKANUYE, First Deputy-Speaker of the Senate, continued her visit to Rutegama village, in Gitega commune and province where she encountered on the field, members of “Abahirwe” cooperative of which she is a member, who were sowing the selected seeds of potatoes.
In his message, Honorable NJEBARIKANUYE told them that the visit aims at approaching the population during the recess period, but also to see how the population responded to the call to work together in cooperatives according to the appeal launched by the President of the Republic of Burundi.
On this occasion, the First Deputy-Speaker of the Senate called on those who have not yet joined the cooperatives to do so.
The head of agriculture, livestock and environment in this constituency, as part of the mobilizers of the population for the integration of cooperatives, said the inhabitants of that province responded in large numbers to that call.
Nevertheless, he pointed out some challenges, notably public procurement procedures out of step with the seasons, which hinders the smooth running of activities, the lack of human resources and material, in this case the means of transport. The same problem was noticed within the ONCCS Institution.
