On the occasion of the closing ceremonies of the thanksgiving prayer at the end of the year 2024, Tuesday, December 31 of this year, the members of the Senate Bureau joined forces with the Head of State, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye and his wife, as well as other high rank dignitaries of the nation among whom the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Vice-President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, parliamentarians, members of the Government and a huge crowd of Burundian citizens, coming from different provinces of the country, during this activity, which took place at the Technical Secondary School of Kemenge, in the town of Bujumbura.
This prayer which began on December 28, 2024 was organized under the theme drawn from Exodus 18:19-23.
In his teachings, the President of the Republic asked leaders to fear God, avoid corruption and hypocrisy. He called them to be humble and sincere. His Excellency Ndayishimiye explained that corruption is a theft that hinders the development of families and the country. He urged the population to denounce anyone is indicted of corruption in their services. We must eradicate corruption in our country, he insisted.
Subsequently, he invited Burundians to always respect culture and morals, which constitute the foundation of the hosehold and the country.
He also called on Burundians to change their behaviour, in order to achieve the country’s development objectives: an emerging Burundi by 2040, and a developed one by 2060.
These ceremonies were essentially marked by teachings aimed at instilling positive values on good governance in the participants, as well as religious songs and dances.
