On June 09 and 10, 2022, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by his two Deputy-speakers, participated in an ecumenical prayer crusade organized by the CNDD-FDD party in the province of Ngozi, at the stadium “Agasaka ka Inarunyonga”, for the period from 09 to 11 June this year, as part of the commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of the death of the Supreme Leader of Patriotism, the late Pierre Nkurunziza, and meditation on his legacy.
It was organized under the theme: “8 So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.
9“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 10 Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.” 1 Chronicles 28:8-10 (NIV)
The crusade was marked mainly by songs of praise, prayers, preaching, as well as teachings for administrative leaders on the qualities of a good leader.
In his teachings, on the second day of the crusade, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera was mainly based on the Holy Scriptures, in particular Proverbs 29: 23 and the letter of the Apostle Paul to the Filipians 2: 3
He called on the members of the CNDD-FDD party, and more especially the leaders, to be characterized by humility and wisdom, following the model of Jesus Christ and King David. Thus, he said they would be imitating the late Pierre Nkurunziza.
He explained that a good leader is one who recognizes his weakness, his limits and the contribution of others during the achievements.
The Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament further clarified that a good leader copies good models, respects others, congratulates those who succeed, and gives thanks to God.
According to him, a good leader accepts humiliation, avoids pride and appreciates the talents and qualities of others.
During his preaching, he challenged Burundians to respect the commands of God and perform acts of love, which honor the country.
