Continuation of the evaluation campaign of the ethnic quota system in Makamba province

On August 24, 2023, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Dénise Ndadaye, met, in the capital of Makamba province, the representatives of the population of all the communes of Makamba province, to collect the opinions of the latter in relation to article 289 of the Constitution of Burundi.

During their interventions, some want ethnic quotas to be removed from the Constitution to entrust work and positions to people taking into account their skills, while others propose maintaining these quotas in the Constitution of Burundi.
