Departure of the Right Honourable Senate Speaker to the Republic of Indonesia

On Thursday, August 29, 2024, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera flew to the Republic of Indonesia where he was invited by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Her Excellency Dr. Puan Maharani, to participate in an Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) which will take place on september 1 and 2, 2024 under the theme : « Forging an Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Partnership for Development »

That important event in which 54 countries are invited to participate aims at taking advantage of the rich historical ties and fostering deeper cooperation between Indonesia and African countries. The forum will also serve as a central platform to discuss critical issues and strengthen parliamentary partnerships in various sectors, such as economy, health, agriculture and energy.

During that forum, participants will deeply deal with topics such as the role of parliaments in strengthening South-South Cooperation and Triangular Cooperation for economic prosperity and sustainable growth. By promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Indonesia and Africa, participants in this Forum will improve public health and food security in our regions.

On the sidelines of this visit, the Right Honourable Senate Speaker will meet other delegations to discuss issues of common interest.
