The Senate Speaker receives in audience the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi

The Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, received in audience the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burundi, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping, on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the sub office of this Institution in Bujumbura.

At the end of this audience, the spokesperson for the Senate Speaker indicated that Mrs. Zhao had come to convey to the Senate Speaker an invitation from her counterpart, President of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of Chinese People, who are organizing an international conference of twin-cities, scheduled for November 17 to 20, 2024, in Kunming.

He reported that Right HonoUrable Sinzohagera promised that he would respond positively to this invitation.

He further explained that the Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament thanked the People’s Republic of China for its multidimensional support to the Republic of Burundi, and more particularly to the Senate and hoped that this cooperation would be strengthened in particular through China’s contribution to the execution of the strategic plan of this senatorial institution, which extends over five years.
