On Friday April 1, 2022, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Cyriaque Nshimirimana, took part in a meeting to assess the achievements of Ruyigi province for the year 2021.
In general, the Governor of this province said that there have been good achievements in all sectors of provincial life.
Nevertheless, the governor indicated that there are some challenges, notably the lack of qualified teachers, teaching benches and doctors.
Other problems encountered include land conflicts, the lack of transparency in the financial management of cooperatives, the low purchasing power that does not allow the supply of necessary products, etc.
In his speech, Honourable Nshimirimana called on communal leaders to help the cooperatives to organize general meetings in order to exchange on financial management.
He invited development partners to comply with communal projects in their implementation and give work to cooperatives.
In the framework of stopping the cases of pupils dropping out, Honourable Nshimirimana suggested that there should be organized general states of education at the communal and provincial levels.
He also urged that some localities be electrified in order to extend the town of Ruyigi centre and recover the state properties, which have been despoiled.
