On Friday November 26, 2021, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye, held a meeting for the administrative officials of the education sector of Mwaro province, in order to discuss the strategies to be adopted to raise the level of intellectual knowledge of students.
In his message to the participants in this meeting, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye said that the field of education is one of the pillars of development in Burundi. She called on villages’ chiefs to closely follow the grievances of the population in general and education issues in particular.
The First Deputy Speaker of the Senate recalled some of the causes of school failure, namely unwanted pregnancies, cases of dropouts, prohibited drinks and narcotics, etc.
She invited educators to combine efforts to fight against unwanted pregnancies because newborn children pose problems as they are sometimes not accepted by their fathers and land disputes can arise in families because of land crampedness.
In addition, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye advised educators and administrative officials to fight against school dropouts, prohibited drinks and cohabitation. At the end of his remarks, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate advised them to fight against Covid-19 by observing the barrier measures of the Ministry having health in its attributions.
During their speeches, participants raised issues related to the inadequacy of teachers, books, desks, etc. Those who attended the meeting recommended that teachers prepare lessons before going to teach them and check that students take notes regularly. They also called on the Government to provide the school inspection services with means of transport.
