September 13, 2022WELCOME SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE RIGHT HONOURABLE EMMANUEL SINZOHAGERA, SPEAKER OF THE SENATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF BURUNDI, ON THE OCCASION OF THE OPENING OF THE 9th CONSULTATION MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SENATES, SHOORA AND EQUIVALENT COUNCILS OF AFRICA AND ARAB WORLD
September 19, 2022Monday, September 19, 2022, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Burundi, the Vice-President of the Republic, Mr. Prosper BAZOMBANZA proceeded to the solemn opening of the 9th Consultation Meeting of ASSECAA, at the palace of Kigobe Congress, in Bujumbura City.
Shortly before the opening of the meeting, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, in his welcoming speech, welcomed the 18 foreign delegations who attended it, among whom 6 Speakers of the Chambers.
According to the Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA, the deliberations of this 9th Consultative Meeting of ASSECAA should mark a decisive step in raising awareness of the urgent need to face the challenges caused by Covid-19 and the Russian- Ukrainian war.
He added that the wish of the Burundian Senate during these meetings is that these deliberations be interactive between the participants to guarantee the emergence of complementary and constructive opinions, and that the debates be guided by a spirit of openness and common responsibilities.
Before ending his remarks, the Senate Speaker expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, Right Honourable Révérien NDIKURIYO, current Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD Party, for his numerous contributions in strengthening Afro-Arab relations.
