The First Deputy-speaker of the Senate, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye, accompanied by a senator from Makamba constituency, met, on Wednesday November 3, 2021, the heads of provincial services and local representatives of Kibago and Kayogoro communes, Makamba province, in the chief-town of Kayogoro commune.
The discussions focused on socio-economic and security aspects.
Honorable Dénise Ndadaye, in her message to the participants, indicated that she had come to exchange views with them, and hear the concerns of the population in order to resolve them and transmit to authorized bodies those which would not be resolved immediately.
She called on these local representatives to raise the population’s awareness about buckling down to development work so as to fight poverty, protect the environment, fight against malnutrition by consuming in particular fruits, vegetables, termites, mushrooms and continue to respect barrier measures against Covid-19.
She also called on them to continue to preserve peace and security by strengthening the quadrilogy, fighting against corruption, drunkenness, unwanted pregnancies and cohabitation.
In addition, the First Deputy-speaker of the Upper chamber of Parliament invited young people and women from these localities to come together in associations in order to develop development projects to be presented to the Youth Investment Bank (BIJE) and to that for women, to apply for credits and accomplish development projects.
Honorable Ndadaye also called on them to continue building the village chiefs’ offices which will also house the village bodies. She also hoped that members of these bodies can be upright citizens.
In addition, she asked the population of these communes to buckle down to breeding activities, while respecting the law on the permanent keeping in sheds for domestic animals, to increase the yield of milk, manure, and contribute to the reduction of disputes related to the straying of the latter.
The First Deputy-speaker of the Senate reminded the participants in this meeting that a good administrative leader must be responsible, characterized by love of work, regular and punctual at work and someone who keeps professional secrecy.
The participants to the meeting raised concerns; these are notably the opening of the Burundian borders to the United Republic of Tanzania for the importation of maize, the shortage of fertilizers, fuel and cement, the supply of drinking water, the rehabilitation of the road connecting Kibago and Kayogoro communes, etc.
Shortly before this meeting, Honorable Dénise Ndadaye joined these participants and the inhabitants of the chief-town of this commune, in plotting contour lines to protect arable land against erosion.
These activities were also attended by the Governor of this province and the communal administrators of Kibago and Kayogoro.
