The Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Senate Speaker, joined the population of Ntahangwa commune, located in the town of Bujumbura, during the cleaning of gutters and waste collection at the former North bus station of Kamenge- “Gare du Nord”, along RN1, on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
This activity is part of supporting the “zero waste” campaign in Burundi, initiated by His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, the President of the Republic.
In his message to the participants, the Rt. Honourable Sinzohagera called on the inhabitants of Bujumbura Town to avoid any form of unsanitary conditions in their living environment. He deplored the fact that some residents of the town do not maintain cleanliness even around their homes, although it is a daily activity which does not require resources or external help.
He urged the administrative authorities to become more involved and raise awareness among the population in order to maintain the cleanliness of their homes, their neighbourhoods and the city.
After those activities, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera visited the surroundings of the avenues leading to districts six and seven of the zone Ngagara, as well as the first avenue of Kamenge zone, to assess the state of sanitary conditions of these places.
