At the beginning of the parliamentary recess in November 2022, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by the parliamentarians elected in Ngozi constituency, met with the local elected officials and administrative officials of the communes of Marangara, Mwumba, Nyamurenza and Tangara of this province, from 02 to 03 November of this year.
The discussions focused on social, economic and security aspects.
In all these places, the Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA indicated to the participants in these meetings that he had gone to listen to their concerns, help them to resolve them and transmit to the authorized authorities those which would not find immediate solutions.
The Speaker of the Senate explained to them that a good administrative leader is characterized by humility, love of work, and serves as a good model for the population he represents.
According to him, a good administrative manager contributes to tax collection, holds regular meetings with the population he represents, submits the report of his achievements to his hierarchical superior and sacrifices himself for others.
He called on them to raise public awareness of birth control, environmental protection, irrigation of fields during the dry season, as well as the fight against corruption, drunkenness, tax evasion and polygamy.
He also challenged the village mediators to read the law that governs them, in order to properly fulfill their function. “Your main task is that of mediation,” he insisted.
Regarding the request of the participants in these meetings, in relation to the sale of corn grains that the government has stored, the Right Honourable SINZOHAGERA promised them that he will submit it to the Minister in charge of agriculture and livestock to compensate for the rise in the price of corn grains.
They also submitted to him the wishes related particularly to the need for the rehabilitation of some roads connecting the municipalities, the increase in the number of teachers and the strengthening of the school canteen for some schools.
In addition, they pointed out the high rate of school dropouts in some localities of the province, the need for drinking water supply, the rise in the price of certain foodstuffs, the drought which contributes to poverty. The other concern was that of the sellers of ginger juices produced in certain factories, who deplore the bankruptcy of their capital, after the measure suspending the sale of these juices.
