Thursday, March 16, 2023, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Dénise Ndadaye, met with communal councilors from Bururi province to discuss socio-economic aspects as well as the communal law which serves as a guide for them in carrying out their mission.
Honourable Dénise Ndadaye advised the communal councilors to collaborate with the administrators in order to implement development projects for the benefit of the population.
She provided them with other advice aimed, for instance, at compliance with the law, transparency, the exchange of information, the fight against corruption, etc.
Honourable Dénise Ndadaye also invited them to involve the population in the undertaking of municipal development projects.
The administrators were asked to meet often with the members of the communal councils in order to take concerted decisions and to prepare the programme budget.
Some of the grievances raised by communal councilors include the training of trainers to build their capacity in terms of the law which governs them; the resolution of land disputes; the harmonization of municipal taxes; the revision of their travel expenses upwards, etc.
