The two Deputy Speakers of the Senate, Honourable Dénise Ndadaye and Fabrice Nkurunziza as well as the Presidents of the standing committees of this Institution took part, from April 20 to 21, 2023, in the 2nd Edition of the National Forum on Burundi Development, at Kigobe convention Centre, in Bujumbura city.
This Forum, which had as main theme “Vision Burundi Emerging Country in 2040 and Developed Country in 2060”, was enhanced by the presence of the President of the Republic of Burundi. It was also attended by high dignitaries and executives of the country, representatives of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Burundi, representatives of international organizations, religious denominations, those of the civil society and political parties approved in Burundi and many other persons.
Other topics discussed and enriched in plenary are the following: the concept of Emergence, vision and purpose of the Vision Burundi Emerging Country in 2040 and Developed Country in 2060; state commitment; economic efficiency (agriculture, infrastructure, energy, mines, services); education, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship, social protection; Health, Water, Hygiene and Sanitation; sustainable ecology and heritage, and conducive macroeconomic framework and resource mobilization.
During the closing of this National Forum, the President of the Republic urged the ministers, each in his or her attributions, to take inventory of the achievements and draw up the list of needs, and as a corollary, its statistics.
He called on all Burundians to patriotism, good management of public affairs and good governance.
His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye pledged to this audience of expert technicians, to be a good leader in this Vision Burundi Emerging Country in 2040, Developed Country in 2060, and promised to punish offenders.
He also invited the expert technicians to a national conference on agriculture, nutrition and environment which will be organized very soon to assess the inventory of fixtures and foresee the prospects.
Finally, he thanked the technical and financial partners who support Burundi in a visible way and took the opportunity to call on others in order to really start the country’s development, which will be profitable, not only for Burundians, but also for other countries.
