The Right Honorable Emmanuel SINZOHAGERA, Speaker of the Senate, led a delegation on a working mission to the Republic of Chad, where he attended the 46th Conference of the African Parliamentary Union (UPA). This event was held at the Palais de la Démocratie in N’Djamena on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The opening speech was delivered by the 1st Vice-President of the National Transitional Council of Chad.
During this session, Right Honorable SINZOHAGERA was appointed by his peers, including the Speakers of the Chambers and heads of delegations, to chair the 46th Conference of the African Parliamentary Union. This recognition reflects the trust and respect that his African counterparts have in him. The discussions focused on crucial issues such as peace and security in African countries.
The participants adopted the agenda of the 46th Conference as well as the report of the Executive Committee and that of the activities of the General Secretariat. Then, the work continued in committees responsible for preparing draft resolutions. The latter aim to address the challenges related to peace, security, and development in African countries.
