On the second day of his visit to the province of Kirundo, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honorable Cyriaque Nshimirimana, accompanied by a senator elected in Kirundo constituency, met, in the chief-town of Busoni commune, heads of communal services, villages’ chiefs, managers of Sangwe cooperatives as well as representatives of religious denominations of Busoni, Bwambarangwe and Gitobe communes of that province, to discuss socio-economic and security issues.
Honorable Cyriaque Nshimirimana, in his remarks, explained that he paid that visit to the population of those localities to encourage them to work diligently, to exchange and listen to their concerns in order to resolve them and to transmit to the authorized bodies those which would not find immediate solutions. He called on them to continue to preserve peace and security, to get down to work for self-development, to fight drunkenness, cohabitation, unwanted pregnancies and corruption.
Moreover, he called on them to limit births, educate their children, properly manage the public good and properly organize religious denominations and churches so as to avoid anarchy. The Second Deputy Speaker of the Senate invited them to join cooperatives and actively participate in community development work, especially since the Government has provided capital loans to Sangwe cooperatives.
After a brief presentation of the achievements of the Sangwe cooperatives in those three communes, those of the commune of Gitobe were successful while those of two other communes were partially successful.
Among the concerns raised by the population of those localities are the needs to rehabilitate certain roads including that of Gasura-Gitobe, the lack of market for selected seeds of corn and beans as well as the absence of the practice of artificial insemination in the breeding domain.
Shortly before that meeting, Honorable Cyriaque Nshimirimana joined the population of Mukerwa zone, Busoni commune, in the work of mixing and bringing together the concrete for the construction of the pillars that will support the walls of the fence of the modern stadium of football under construction in Renga village, where he contributed 20 sacks of cement on his own behalf.
