In the morning of Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate returned from a working mission he had carried out in the Kingdom of Morocco and Zimbabwe.
Speaking to the press at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, Right Honorable Sinzohagera indicated that within the framework of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation signed between the Senate Institutions of Burundi and the Kingdom of Morocco, he had responded to the invitation of the President of the House of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco, leading a delegation composed of certain senators and executives of the Senate, for the exchange of experiences between the two Chambers.
He pointed out that he succeeded to establish bilateral relations between the Ministry of Agriculture and that of Trade and Industry of the Kingdom of Morocco with two ministries of Burundi having these same affairs in their attributions, so that they can work together, given that the Kingdom of Morocco is very advanced in terms of agricultural techniques and research, and can inspire Burundi in the fight against the effects of climate change.
The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament indicated that, on the sidelines of his mission to the Kingdom of Morocco, he managed to visit Zimbabwe, where he met the President of the Senate of this country to discuss the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two institutions.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera indicated that the Speaker of the Senate of Zimbabwe promised that he will plead during the next meetings of SADEC (South African Development and Economic Community), so that Burundi’s application for membership of this Community be accepted.
