In the morning of Friday, December 04, 2020, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, conducted a visit to Mpinga-Kayove commune in Rutana province in order to discuss with local representatives, heads of different services and representatives of religious denominations working in that locality, the issues related to security and socio-economic development.
Right Honorable Sinzohagera first of all congratulated inhabitants of Rutana for their participation in all the elections which have just been organized in Burundi. To this end, he congratulated all those who were recently elected.
The Senate Speaker appreciated the security situation that prevails in that locality and took the opportunity to ask the population to remain vigilant by fighting against anything that could destabilize them, in particular land disputes, cohabitation as well as the manufacture and consumption of prohibited drinks.
Regarding development, the Senate Speaker informed those officials that the only wish of the responsible Government is that every mouth receives something to eat and that every pocket is bailed out. In this regard, he asked them to buckle down to development activities organized within cooperatives in order to increase production for consumption and sale.
In addition, Right Honorable Sinzohagera reminded them to ensure the proper management of the 10 million francs granted to village-based cooperatives for self-development.
In addition, he asked young people to prepare good development projects in order to benefit from the loans from the Youth Bank.
He also said that the Government intends to set up a Bank for women. With that, he called on women to start coming together to develop projects in order to benefit from loans from that Bank.
