On the evening of Saturday, November 12, 2022, on the occasion of the closing of the journey of the Torch of Peace, 16th edition, the First Deputy-Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Dénise Ndadaye, joined the Head of State, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye accompanied by the First Lady, other high dignitaries of the Nation, among whom the Vice-President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Ombudsman, some parliamentarians, the members of the Government, the various distinguished guests, as well as an immense crowd of Burundian citizens, during these ceremonies which took place in Gitega, the political capital of Burundi.
These ceremonies which took place at Ingoma Stadium were characterized by a festive atmosphere, embellished by modern and traditional songs and dances that promote Burundi, as well as fireworks.
In his address to the people of Burundi, the Head of State recalled that the Torch of Peace contributes to the strengthening of peace, unity, reconciliation and social cohesion. He called on Burundians to roll up their sleeves and work to develop, and to make good use of the social economy.
The day before, Honourable Dénise Ndadaye had participated in the handover ceremonies of this same Torch of Peace between the provinces of Bujumbura and Mwaro. In the company of certain high authorities of the country, among whom the Vice-President of the Republic, H.E Prosper Bazombanza and the Torch of Peace caravan, she joined the population of Ndava commune, in Mwaro province, during the concrete mixing works, used for the paving of the corridor of Ndava Communal high scholl.
On this occasion, H.E Bazombanza proceeded to the inauguration of a public tap on this same place.
Addressing the participants in this work, the First Vice-President of the Republic called on the population of Mwaro to get down to the various works, and more particularly those in the field of agriculture, during this rainy season, and to maintain public infrastructure.
