On the second day of her trip to Mwaro province, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Denise Ndadaye, visited the Institute of Agronomic Sciences of Burundi (ISABU) in Gisozi, which deals with research in the fields of agriculture and livestock. She said that she had come to inquire about the functioning of this Institute, and to collect its grievances, in order to transmit them to the authorized bodies, so that they can be processed. She encouraged its staff to continue its agronomic research.
The concerns raised by the leaders of this Institute include the delay in funding, the lack of irrigation equipment and solar panels for the laboratory in the event of a power cut by REGIDESO, as well as the Internet connection. They also mentioned a repetitive phenomenon of public contracts that are cancelled because suppliers do not comply with the terms of reference.
The First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament then visited Nkurunzi basic school, under rehabilitation, in the commune Rusaka and promised a contribution of 50 sacks of cement for this ongoing work.
She encouraged the students to continue their studies. She also called on the population of this locality to continue to preserve peace and security, to love one another, and to remain united during the electoral period.
