

Continuing the visits scheduled by the Senate during the parliamentary recess of November 2025, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Honourable Générose NGENDANGANYA, accompanied by some administrative officials from Gitega Province and Bugendana Commune, met on November 26, 2025, at the Parish of Mugera Catholic, with the chief of the zone, notables, and villages chiefs of the zone Mugera in Bugendana Commune.
The purpose of this meeting was to listen to the concerns of the population in various areas of life, including justice, sanitation, the economy, security, and many others.
In her address to the participants at this meeting, Honourable NGENDANGANYA urged the population of this locality to fully commit to the various projects aimed at achieving Burundi’s vision: an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060.
She also called on them to continue preserving peace and security. Furthermore, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene.
Most of the grievances raised by participants at this meeting concerned land disputes and the bias of some judicial officials.
Other concerns included the Batwa community’s demand for arable land, cases of drunkenness and theft, and the closure of the high schools of this zone due to a lack of interest in the programmes offered by their families.
In response to these concerns, the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate urged administrative officials and local leaders to act impartially in resolving conflicts.
Honourable NGENDANGANYA promised to forward to the appropriate authorities the grievances regarding the request for a vehicle and the rehabilitation of the playgrounds the High School of Mugera as well as the paving of the section Ruvyironza–Ngozi of the road linking Mugera to Ngozi.
