The Honourable deputies and senators members of the standing committees on Finance, along with several senior officials from the National Assembly and the Senate, participated in a capacity-building workshop on the presentation and analysis of draft finance bills, including those related to the social sectors.
This workshop was organized by the Parliament of Burundi in collaboration with UNICEF, in the chief-town of Gitega commune and province, from December 2nd to 4th, 2025, in Accolade Hotel.
At the end of the workshop, participants formulated several recommendations, including revising Decree No. 100/255 of October 18, 2011, about the general regulations for the management of public budgets, to adapt it to the ongoing reforms; establishing a sanctions mechanism for those who mismanage public funds; conducting a comprehensive study on the quantified impact of the exemptions already granted since 2020-2025; raising awareness and compelling all of the citizens to pay taxes and duties.
