THE RESIDENT COORDINATOR OF THE UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM IN BURUNDI RECEIVED IN AUDIENCE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE

The Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, received in audience the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Burundi, Mr. Damien Mama, on Monday, December 05, 2022, in Bujumbura City, Economic Capital of Burundi.

During their meeting, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera welcomed the initiative of the United Nations System in Burundi, in supporting the actions carried out by the Government of Burundi, across the country.

He pleaded for the United Nations System to support the Senate in the dynamics of strengthening the skills of commune administrators and councilors, so that there should be administrative stability at the commune level.

Their exchanges also focused on the framework cooperation agreement which was recently signed between the Government of the Republic of Burundi and the United Nations system, and which will contribute to the mobilization of funds, likely to meet the economic needs of the Burundian population, given that the United Nations System is currently supporting Burundi in building economic resilience.
