The Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera took part in the 2nd day of the conference organized by ‘PLEIN EVANGILE’ at Gitega

On Friday, 16 July 2021, the Senate Speaker, Right Honorable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, took part in the second day of the Conference organized by the Church ‘Plein Evangile’, in Gitega commune and province, from 15 to 18 July 2021.

Talking to Christians of the Church, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera has recalled that the Senate recently organized a series of conferences in order to reflect on 1972 events which occurred in Burundi, just to seek the truth and fully reconcile.

The President of the upper Chamber of the Parliament has also pointed out that the Constitution of the Republic of Burundi gives a 5-year period to the Senate to appreciate if we should keep on  considering the ethnic dimension within the Institutions of the state or not.

It is in this framework that he made it out that ethnicities have been instituted in Burundi by the colonizer, knowing that Burundians don’t thoughtlessly fulfill the conditions. ‘‘They speak the same language, live within the same territory, share the same culture and the same background,’’ he clarified.

Hence, he wanted them to avoid the globalization since it is not the ethnic group that kills but rather bad governance.

The Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera called on the Church leaders to give right and helpful teachings which are liable to relieve the hearts of the people who have lost their relatives; he sensitized the population to give testimonies about the real situations they have been living in in 1972 and to dress a list of persons who were killed during that period.

In the end, he urged the population to recover the sources of the peaceful Burundi of Ntare.
