The Right Honourable Sinzohagera sensitizes teachers to improve school success rate

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, the Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, Speaker of the Senate, accompanied by a senator elected in the constituency of Bujumbura and some administrative officials from that province, met with teachers of the fundamental and post-basic level of the Benga zone, commune Isare in the province of Bujumbura, within the premises of the Muberure communal Lycée .

The discussions focused on ways and means to improve the quality of education and the success rate of students in national tests in that locality.

During that meeting, the Right Honourable Sinzohagera told them that the parliamentarians elected in the constituency of Bujumbura province are in a campaign to sensitize teachers, for the improvement of the quality of education, because they have found that the success rate of students in national tests is not satisfactory.

He said that their goal is to increase performance for every subject taught, and for every school. “Education of good quality is the source of development”, he added.

He explained that he had come to encourage them, because he recognizes that the teaching profession is a vocation, which requires sacrifice. He called on them to respect the hours of service, to do the maximum possible of their work, to ensure the supervision of the students and to advance in class those who deserve it.

The Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament asked the communal administration to sensitize parents of those students to support the teachers in the education of their children.

He told them that he is pleading for the communal administration to be to supervise even the work of state officials, including teachers.

Regarding the insufficient number of desks in some schools, he reassured them that the natives of the province are organizing themselves to support the government in solving that problem.

Other concerns raised by those teachers include the insufficient number of teachers, classrooms and teaching materials for some schools.
