On Sunday June 19, 2022, the Speaker of the Senate, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, accompanied by a senator elected in the constituency of Gitega and some administrative officials of that province, joined the Christians of the Church ‘Hosanna des Amis de la Lumière’, Songa parish, in the commune and province of Gitega, in the Sunday celebration prayer.
Addressing the Christians of this Church in particular, and the Burundian people in general, the Senate Speaker invited them to continue to preserve peace and security, the basis of sustainable development. “Let us remember that safeguarding peace and security is a daily task,” he insisted.
He also urged them to prepare for the dry season cultivation which is mainly practiced in the swamps, in order to continue to fight poverty.
The Right Honourable Sinzohagera also advised them to refrain from eating cattle meat during this period of Rift Valley fever, which attacks those cattle and can infect humans.
