Representing the Government of the Republic of Burundi, the Senate Speaker, Right Honourable Emmanuel Sinzohagera, enhanced with his presence the ceremonies of priestly and diaconal ordinations, and the convocation of acolyte and readership ministries, which took place in Gishungo parish, located in Mugera zone, Mishiha commune in the province of Cankuzo, on July 13, 2024. These ceremonies were organized under the theme: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Phil.2:4)
In his speech, Right Honourable Sinzohagera appreciated the achievements of the Catholic Church in the areas of health, education and social relations. He promised the leaders of this Church that he will always respond to their calls, as a people representative, for the interest of the population. The Right Honourable Speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament asked the new priests to be good shepherds. He invited Christians to support them in their apostolate, and always respect their good advice.
This event was also attended by certain parliamentarians and administrative officials, various distinguished guests, as well as a huge crowd of Christians from different Catholic parishes.
